Gary Shaw Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John A. Gentleman Mortuaries - Pacific Street Chapel on May 17, 2024.

Gary Michael Shaw was born on 11-16-1948 in Pocatello, Idaho to Naomi and Joseph “Burt” Shaw. He lived an inspiring life that can be summed up in the word overcomer. At the age of 3 years old, he contracted polio. Throughout his childhood he was subjected to multiple surgeries, which had lifelong complications. Gary defied the odds. He had a full, blessed life and accomplished the improbable. In spite of the challenges, he played multiple sports. His favorites were golf and bowling.  He was married to his wife Donna for 47 years. They had 3 children Christina Marie, Jeffrey Michael, Kevin Joseph Shaw. He had a 44-year career at Union Pacific Railroad, in which train dispatcher was his favorite position held. At 75 years 6 month, Gary went to his eternal home in heaven on 5-14-2024 to be at peace and renewed in the arms of his Savior.

Gary will be remembered in many ways:

An independent spirit, who was active and rarely complainedA selfless provider for his familyA loving, doting father, but all within reasonA man of varied interest: trains, planes, automobiles, bird watching, stock market, golf, bowling, gardening

Though challenged, he was able to accomplish much. He will surely be missed by those who knew him.  His family will be forever proud of him for his tenacity to never let these challenges hold him back.
