It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Gary Shea.

Gary Martin Shea, 74, died at home in El Centro in the early morning of January 8, 2026.

Raised in El Centro, Gary was one of five siblings to Cyril Thomas Shea and Ruth Vivian Jones (nee Bachman): Wayne, Joy, Daniel, Gary, and Mark. He was a graduate of Central High School. He is survived by his son, Parker Shea and daughter, Randi Ryan, as well as his grandson, Francis Gary Shea. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Wayne, Daniel, and Mark.

Gary was known throughout Imperial and San Diego counties for being a master mechanic and welder. He spent over 50 years building, fixing, and designing custom mechanical implements for all purposes, from handmade stoves to diesel trucks to airplanes.

Although rarely at church, Gary was also a devoted Christian his whole life who prayed daily for the prosperity of his children, grandchild, brothers, and their families.

Although gone too soon and unexpectedly, Gary passed exactly as he said his whole life he wanted to: painlessly and after a good hard day's work.

Funeral services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10 a.m., where Gary will be buried near his mother.
