Gary Siderman Obituary

Gary A. Siderman
Beulah, MI
12/27/1941 - 12/17/2025
Gary Alfred Siderman passed away peacefully on December 17th at the age of 83 in his home,
surrounded by his family. He was a dedicated and cherished husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather and friend to many. His humor, kindness, and compassion touched the lives of all who knew him.
Gary was born on December 27th, 1941, in Roscommon, Michigan, to Alfred and Esther Siderman. He was one of six children and the only son. Gary graduated from Gerrish-Higgins High School in 1959 and then attended Central Michigan University, graduating in 1963 with a degree in Education. He went on to a fulfilling career at Benzie Central High School as a dedicated teacher for 32 years and athletic director for 20 years, retiring in 1995. One of Gary's most treasured gifts was the many former students who would see him throughout the years and thank him for being one of their favorite teachers and sharing the impact he had on their lives. Those brief encounters would bring the biggest smiles to his face. After retirement Gary spent his time working at the local grocery store often performing the job of store greeter while stocking shelves. Gary loved his community. He was a youth coach, served terms on the local village council, and was an active member of St. Anns Parish. These, just a few examples of his
generous spirit.
For those that knew Gary, knew he had a great sense of humor. He was one of the best story and joke tellers. He would never forget a detail and would hit the punchline perfectly every time. In addition, Gary loved the outdoors. From boating, fishing, golfing, playing softball with the Moonlighters, to attending Michigan Football Games at the Big House. He stayed active in these activities until his body wouldn't allow. Gary most loved spending time with his family and close friends. It brought him much joy to see the smiles and hear the laughter from those he loved the most. He was a fun-loving man who lived every day as if it was his last.
Gary Siderman is survived by his beloved spouse, Carol (Wilson)Siderman; his two daughters Michele (Karen) Siderman of Alto, Amy (David) Adrianson of Wayland; his three grandsons Nicholas Johnson, Noah (Brandy) Johnson, and Jesse Adrianson; his three great-grandchildren Paisley, RaeLynn and Asher; and his sister Joan Sliss. Gary is also survived by his wife Carol's brothers and sisters, with whom he was very close, Judy Soderquist, Larry (Nancy) Wilson, Robert (Sara) Wilson, Jim (Sue) Wilson, Mike (Sharon) Wilson, Mary (Jim) Kettles, Mark (Laurie) Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Esther Siderman; his parents-in-law H. Gail and Ann Wilson, his sisters, Dorothy, Betty, Helen, and Janet; and his nephews Jason Wilson and Charles Lorion; and niece Mindy Weaver.
A visitation will be held on January 10th, 2026 at Jowett Family Funeral Home from noon to 3 p.m. with a short memorial service beginning at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer Foundation of America.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Mr. Siderman was my favorite senior year teacher.
I did get to talk with him several times through the years when he worked at store. He always remembered me when I saw him.
I have great memories of being in his class.
May rest in peace.
My prayers are with all of you.
