Gary Simmons Obituary

Born on October 11, 1942 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late George and Aldona (Shedlofski) Simmons. He was raised in Beach Lake and attended Honesdale Catholic High School where he graduated in 1961.
Gary and Diane owned and operated the Crista Villa Hair Cutters in Honesdale for over 50 years. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 6 years. Gary was an honorary member of the Bucks Cove Rod and Gun Club and the Honesdale Golf Club.
In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children, Melissa Lamberton of Cape Coral, FL, Vanessa Simmons of Vestal, NY and Jessica DeLisio and husband Gerard of Goochland, VA; grandchildren, Olivia, Eden and Alec Lamberton, Ava and Gabrielle Simmons, and Gerard and Dylan DeLisio; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Simmons and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jack Zigmantanis.
His family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Ellen Memorial and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care Gary received.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday, 4 to 7. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, www.diabetes.org.

Gary, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow veteran. The final battle is now over and peace has been restored. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
