Grand Cane, LA - A funeral service celebrating the life of Gary Slaid, 70, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield Chapel 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana with Chance David and Coday Johnston officiating. Burial to follow at Slaid Cemetery at 347 Willie Glaze Rd, Grand Cane, LA. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Mansfield.
Gary was born on April 7, 1954, in Port Arthur, TX to Hilburn and Betty Jean McDonald Slaid and passed away September 29, 2024, in Grand Cane, Louisiana. Gary loved pipelining, spending time with family and riding horses across all of his land.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Cy Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Shelly Slaid; sons Iron Paul Curt Slaid and Dakota DeWayne Slaid; daughters Cheryl Rae Hadwin (Jeff), Jessica Wade (Matthew), Corrie Slaid (Daniel), and Lacy Danley (Shawn); sister Susan Slaid and son Joey; brother Gene Slaid (Lyn); grandchildren Cortney Jennings (Dylan), Chelsea Norman (Robert), Dylan Slaid, Justin Slaid, Jada Slaid, Pacer Williams, Lexie Wade, Wade Parker, Briar Wade, Cash Wade, Harper Danley, Wyatt Wade, Westin Peters, Haddie Danley, and Waylon Wade; great grandchildren Braden Jennings, Lillian Jennings, Lexi Raab, Ryder Boswell, Mason Norman, and Riley Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends all across the United States.
Honoring Gary as pallbearers will be his daughters Cheryl Rae Hadwin, P. Louise, Leroy, Lacy Pete, son Iron Paul Slaid, two of his older grandsons Wade Parker, and Pacer Williams.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are his 15 grandchildren.
