Gary Allen Smalt, aged 55, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2024. Born on April 21, 1969, in Bath, NY, Gary's life was one marked by dedication, love, and the sweet melody of his bass guitar. He departed from this world in Dansville, NY, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and craftsmanship that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Gary is survived by his wife, Jennifer Smalt, and their cherished daughter, Emily Smalt, his brother, Dan (Cheryl) Smalt, as well as by his many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his father Joseph Smalt, and mother Barbara Smalt, as well as his brothetrs, Ronnie and Joe. He was a family man at heart, and his absence will be profoundly felt.
Professionally, Gary was known as a highly skilled contractor, a trade he took immense pride in. His work was not just a job but a craft he honed with precision and care. His colleagues in the industry respected him for his expertise and the integrity he brought to every job.
Beyond his work, Gary was a man of many interests, but none captivated him quite like music. A passionate bass player, he found joy and solace in the strings of his beloved instrument. Gary's love for music was infectious, and he often shared this passion with friends and family, creating lasting memories through songs and melodies. A staunch fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Gary's enthusiasm for his team was evident to all.
Those who knew Gary would describe him as incredibly handy, a trait that served him well both professionally and personally. His ability to fix, build, or create was nothing short of remarkable, and he was often the first person called upon when a helping hand was needed.
As we say goodbye to Gary Allen Smalt, we celebrate the time we had with him and the countless ways he enriched our lives. His memory will continue to inspire us, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Rest in peace, Gary. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
