Gary Paul Snow, 73, passed away peacefully at his home in Rogue River, OR on April 5th, 2024.

He was born in Bakersfield, CA on November 10th, 1950.  He spent his childhood in Southern California and attended Fountain Valley high school where he was a key player on the football team & graduated in 1969.  Gary started working for the phone company that same year and worked there until he retired in 2002, at the age of 52.  In 1976, Gary and his wife, Gail, put in for a transfer to Southern Oregon because they desired a small hometown to raise their young family.  They settled in Rogue River where Gary became a very active member of this beloved community.  Gary was a sports fanatic and continued playing many sports in his adulthood including racquetball, volleyball, softball and water and snow skiing, just to name a few.  Sharing his passion for sports, he coached teams in softball, soccer, baseball, and golf for the youth in Rogue River.  He umpired high school baseball for many years & was a member of the high school booster club since the 1980s.  In addition to his coaching work, he did some mission work with Rogue Valley Community Church youth group and with Tech Serve, which took him to many places and as far away as Africa. He loved life, people, and his family dearly.  This was shown through his dedicated marriage of almost 51 years to Gail Snow.  His kids and grandkids were his treasures and he loved attending their sports games and activities.  In 2006 Gary had a stem cell transplant and was given a life expectancy of 10 years.  He was a fighter though and well surpassed that timeline by another eight years.  During his later years, he took up golfing, where the fresh air, outdoors and walking was best for his medical situation.  Golf soon became another sports passion for him & helped soothe his soul.  He loved it so much that Gary even considered Laurel Hills golf course his home away from home.

Gary is survived by his wife Gail Snow.  Daughters Jayme Streitler (Woody Collins),  Janna Moody (Clyde Moody), Jeana Snow-Hileman (Rob Hileman), Gara Amarillas (Will Oberlin), Son Justin Snow (Brian Proctor-Snow), 12 grandkids and 6 great grandkids, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

He was preceded in death by Lee Roy Snow (Father), Gene and Mary Ann Pitzer (Stepfather and Mother)

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Grace Baptist Church on June 9th, 2024, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a Gary Snow Donation account has been set up at 1st Community Credit Union.  All proceeds will be donated to the Rogue River High School Golf team.

Please share a memory of Gary in his Guestbook (below).
