Gary L. Sommerfeld

Gary L. Sommerfeld, age 71 of Gillett, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Gary was born on May 12, 1952 to the late Herbert and Elizabeth (Ratz) Sommerfeld. He graduated from Gillett High School and attended missionary school. Later, Gary went to tech school for computers and received a degree in market management. Gary worked at Gillett Canning Factory, Scott Paper Mill, numerous casinos, cheese factory, and Pulaski Canning Factory. He was married for a time, but the marriage ended in divorce. In his younger years, Gary enjoyed bowling, golfing, shooting pool, grandma's cooking and going to stock car races. He also loved computer games, watching TV, sci-f, and going out to eat.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Linda Scapple, Steven Sommerfeld, Debra (Larry) Clay, and Kurt Krueger. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Richard Scapple.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Riverside Lutheran Church from 10:30 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
