Gary Alan Springs Was born September 10th, 1939, in Syracuse, New York. He was an amazing man with upstanding morals. He joined the military from 1957 through 1979, where he traveled the world and transitioned between three separate branches of the armed forces: Army, Airforce, and Marine Corp. After retiring from the military, he went on to be a computer engineer in the Aerospace department for Lockheed Martin. He worked hard but still found time to fulfill his duties of playing Santa for his coworkers each year. When his time was done with the company, and he retired, he and his wife Sharon Springs moved into the country and bought a piece of land. Gary dreamed of a ranch and Sharon wished for a farm. The home they found will always be known to the family as “The Franch”. The Franch offered all of his grandkids the opportunity to ride horses, camp, fish, shoot, learn to cook, play on ATV’s and dirt-bikes, learn how to garden, and even how to build things. He truly seemed the happiest when he was able to see his grandchildren enjoying life but was always available to impart his own brand of words of wisdom whenever the need arose. After retirement, Gary could be found fixing computers for anyone and everyone. He spent time winning county fairs with his homemade wine, and knocking down pins on many bowling teams. Gary loved to show off his skills in the kitchen. If you were one of the few to be served Gary’s Steak Diane, consider yourself extremely lucky! Gary also had a passion for photography, primarily in the sense of preserving memories. He always had his camera around his neck for that next photo. He spent a great deal of time and effort cataloguing these memories onto DVDs to share and preserve these special moments with the entire family.

Eventually with declining health and grown grandchildren, he and his wife moved back to Denver where they were able to be close to those that saw them as family. That’s what he valued above all else. He was a family man through and through. He hosted Sunday pizza parties every week, inviting any family or friend that was available. His long standing wish was to keep all of us together. After diligently taking care of his wife Sharon for many years she passed in July of 2022. With a broken heart he continued Sunday pizza night for a few months before deciding it was time for his next adventure.

The oxygen and weather was rough in Colorado so he sold off all of his belongings and drove across the country to sunny and beautiful Florida! While in Florida he was able to be close to his son, Steve, and his grandchildren. He made sure to find a home with a pool, to yet again give his family a place to make memories. His door was always open to anyone who needed a vacation getaway. Florida’s lower elevation gave us more time with Gary, but not enough. Gary passed away on September 27,2024.

Gary had three children:

Colleen (James) Gainey, Kathryn (Troy) Thomas, and Steven (Kristina) Springs, as well as one stepdaughter, Jane (Marcel) Linne

13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He will live on in all of our hearts as we choose to remember him through our days.
