Gary Curtis Stinson

Gary Curtis Stinson, 72, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on June 10, 2025. Born in Dallas on September 18, 1952, Gary grew up in Lancaster, Texas, where his love for family, service, and horse racing began to take root.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Gary served during the Vietnam War with honor. His life's work reflected a deep calling to ministry, and he spent the majority of his adult life serving as a chaplain in the horse racing industry-offering compassion, counsel, and connection to countless individuals within that unique community.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Stinson; their daughter, Natalie Reid, son-in-law, Dillon, and beloved grandchildren, Brodie (17) and Townes (13). He is also survived by his sister, Lana Morris, and her husband, Harry; his brother, Greg Stinson, and his husband, Tim Simmonds; as well as his 3 nephews Ryan Stinson; Chris Morris, his wife Amy, and their son Jake (20); and Macky Morris and his children Marley (20), Porter (18), and Mack (7).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Stinson.
Gary will be remembered for his deep faith, the quiet peace he found when fishing with friends, the love and creativity he poured into every meal he cooked, and every moment shared with his family. He touched many lives with overwhelming generosity and steady kindness.
In accordance with his wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private celebration of life will be arranged by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Race Track Chaplaincy of America or to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dallas, in Gary's memory.
