Gary Allen Stokes, age 60, of Blakely, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, AL.
Funeral services for Mr. Stokes will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM EST at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will be held at Newton City Cemetery in Newton, AL at 2:00 PM EST with Chris Robinson, Craig Thompson, Caleb Temples, Jason Cherry, Tylek Marshall, and Keith Floyd serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM EST at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to help with medical and funeral expenses incurred.
Mr. Stokes was born in Ariton, AL on Sept. 2, 1964, to Pink Junior Stokes and Margaret Faye Harrison Stokes. He was a 1982 graduate of Seminole County High School, where he was a member of the basketball team. Mr. Stokes worked as a sales manager for Koch Foods until his health recently forced him to retire. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, most especially his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Erica Blackburn (T.G. Floyd) of Blakely, GA; his mother, Margaret Faye Smith of Donalsonville, GA; his sister, Betty Harvey (Ed) of Dothan, AL; and his brother, Jerry Stokes (Becky) of Donalsonville, GA. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Trip Blackburn, Charlie Blackburn, and Tylek Marshall; his great grandchild, Hudson Marshall; as well as several nephews and nieces.
Mr. Stokes was preceded in death by his father, Pink Junior Stokes; his brother, Jimmy Stokes; and his nephew, Shawn Stokes.
