Gary Lee Stout, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026 in Schoenbrunn Healthcare at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.
Gary was born on March 26, 1939, at his family farm in Gilmore, Ohio. His parents were Bernard and Thelma (Engstrom) Stout.
His children are: Carrie Rooks of Gnadenhutten, Cheryl (Bob) Haver of Uhrichsville, William (Holly) Stout of Barberton, Bryan Stout of Wainwright, and Heather (Nick) McKenzie of Lexington, South Carolina. He also had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Gary’s surviving siblings are Karen (Joe) Swaton of Dover, Daniel Dean (Kathleen) Stout of Negely, Ohio, and Kevin (Jackie) Stout of Struthers, Ohio. Two infant sisters and a son-in-law, Richard Rooks preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his best little friend, Lily.
Gary was always a hard-working man. He worked for Alsco, Rearden, and Wal-Mart. He enjoyed his retirement, always tinkering with something. Gary enjoyed many hobbies and family activities, including camping, fishing, boating, waterskiing, square dancing, and motorcycle riding. He loved to travel. In his life-time he traveled to all 50 states.
Gary was always a clam, quiet, kind strength for everyone around him. He was dependable and always willing to give anyone a hand. Gary was a good friend, and had many friends.
There will be no services, as Gary wished. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Cremation care has been handled by Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory.
