Gary Strohm Obituary

Published by McCormick & Son Mortuaries and Crematory - Laguna Hills on Jan. 25, 2016.
"Death Leaves a Heartache No One Can Heal, Love Leaves a Memory, No One Can Steal." Gary Strohm was born on April 24, 1957 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 25, 2016 at the age of 58 in Irvine, California. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kimmerly Winfree Strohm and his three children, Alexander, Eric and Kelly Strohm all of Irvine, California; as well as his father John William Strohm of Farmington, Pennsylvania and his brother James Randall Strohm of Brooklyn, New York. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Shirley Jean Hathaway of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gary loved the great outdoors, especially hiking, skiing and mountain biking. He was a treasured friend to many. He was a wonderful listener with an equally wonderful sense of humor. Not only was he fun, but he was really smart. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Computer Science, he was a pioneer in the field, and he successfully built his own web-based business and contributed greatly to corporate IT operations and software companies over his 30 year career. Gary loved his family and friends deeply and genuinely and will be sorely missed. Per Gary's wishes, his ashes will be scattered in places he loved, hopefully we'll make it to Mount Whitney, Mammoth and Bilbao, Spain. Everyone is invited to his Celebration of Life on February 14, 2016. For further information, please see below. Our family would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who have supported us during this time. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Families Forward. We will always remember Gary for his easy going nature and friendliness. Many fond memories of Mammoth trips and of being so impressed that he was an excellent snowboarder! Gary loved his family and we remember how he loved to cook for them, always experimenting with new recipes-such a great Dad and husband! Will always remember his 50th bday at Antonello's, a great tribute! Rest in peace Gary, you will be missed.

I met Gary in Algorta. As soon as he walked in we knew he was going to be the cool guy. We had lots of fun at the ASB. You will be remembered.
