Gary Sturgeon Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Gary Sturgeon has gone home to be with the Lord after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born on July 30, 1947 in Laconia, New Hampshire. He passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025 surrounded by family.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Diane; his children Jodi (Judy), Wanda, Steffany (Marty), Chris (Erin), and Nicole; brother, Kevin (Debbie) and cousin, Robert (Anita). He was blessed with five grandchildren whom he adored.

He had profound admiration for his father, Gerard Sturgeon, whose influence defined his character and whose words he quoted often.

Gary earned his business degree at the University of New Hampshire. His greatest strengths were his diverse knowledge and ability to reinvent himself, building successful careers in moving and storage (Suddath), regional management (Travel Centers of America), and security (Nemours Children's Hospital and Lockheed Martin). Remarkably, he became a locksmith at the age of 75. Along the way, he built friendships with colleagues that became like family.

In his earlier years, Gary enjoyed playing baseball, golfing, and piloting his plane. He later took up gun collecting, home improvement, and birdwatching.

Gary valued the people in his life. He was committed to doing things the right way, leading by example rather than words. His quiet strength, practical wisdom, and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew him.

He will be dearly missed and forever loved.
