Gary C. Sudy, age 74 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Grand Pines Assisted Living. He was born on February 23, 1950, in Detroit, MI, to the late Chester "Chet" and Virginia (Czech) Sudy.
Gary graduated from Detroit Catholic Central High School and worked as an insurance salesman for most of his career before his retirement. He was a devoted member and pillar of the AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) community, helping and sponsoring many people over the years.
Gary was a foodie and avid fisherman who enjoyed being out on the "Big Lake" and bass fishing with friends and family, and he even raised trout in his backyard pond. Spending time with family and friends was central to his life and he especially enjoyed watching the Sunday Detroit Lion's games with them. Gary was Polish and Proud, loved Polka and dancing, and was most known for his storytelling talents.
Gary will be forever remembered and missed by his two children, Jessica Sudy (Will MacDonald) and Christopher Sudy (Ashley Sietsema) all of Grand Haven; three sisters: Patty Horne (Frank Lapasinskas), Diane DeWitt, and Gail (Tom) Gualdoni; as well as many nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Cecilia Sudy; and brother-in-law, Mike DeWitt.
The Memorial Service for Gary will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gary for a quite a few years when I was a medical assistant at a urology office. He ALWAYS had that sweet contagious smile on his face when he came in. He genuinely cared to get to know others and we all became close to him. Praying for comfort for his family during this difficult time. He was such a light and is leaving behind a great legacy. I know everyone knew what a great guy he was. He will be incredibly missed.
