Gary Tate Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, Cemeteries & Crematories on Apr. 30, 2025.
Gary Lee Tate, born June 2, 1954, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Gary was a loving husband to Sharon, father to Amanda and Matt, and "Pop" to Brayden, Emerson, and Amelia.
After high school graduation, Gary followed his father Maurice "Buck" Tate into the sheet metal trade, where he was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Local '67 until his retirement from Mueller & Wilson Inc. in 2018. Gary was a lifelong fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed few things more than fishing, hunting with a little car racing on side with family and friends.
In addition, for about 30 years, Gary was a dedicated and active member with the San Antonio Livestock Exposition. He served on the Operations Committee first as a volunteer, then life member, committee chairman director, and Director Emeritus.
Gary never met a stranger, from co-workers, to family, to friends, to fellow foremen, he would help anyone at any time. Whatever needed to be done he was always willing to pitch in to get the job done and usually had a great time doing it.
Gary was pre-deceased by his father, Buck, mother, Barbara, and sister-in-law, Patti Tate. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his daughter Amanda, son Matt, and daughter in law, Kristin. He is also survived by his brother Steve Tate and sister Karen Tate Lares (Jesse), and his grandchildren, Brayden, Emerson, and Amelia Tate.
Gary was very much loved and will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. From his family to his friends, to his grandchildren that he absolutely adored, Gary lived a full life. He will be missed.
