Gary Thompson Obituary
Age 86, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota passed away, July 17, 2023. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Dennis, sister Carole and his infant son Jay. Gary served 4 years in the Navy and was a Captain for Northwest Airlines for 30 years, retired in 1996. Survived by his loving wife, Joan; sons, Greg (Bobbi) Thompson, Steve (Kari) Thompson; daughter, Kris (Vark) Tadian; grandchildren, Samantha Therres (Dylan), Tanner Thompson, Jewel Weiss, Tyler, Baron, Tori, and Ella Thompson, Jack and Taylor Tadian. Funeral service Monday, July 31, 2 PM. Visitation 1 hour prior at Grace Church, 9301 Eden Prairie Rd. Eden Prairie MN. Live stream: grace.church/garythompson. Memorials preferred to Tyler Church or NWA History Museum.

I grew up with GARY, Dennis and Carol THOMPSON at Rosholt South Dakota. We had an airstrip on the farm and a Unicom radio. GARY would always call us when flying over South Dakota. He would usually talk with my mother Hazel since she was in the house most of the time.

Living next door to his daughter Kris we come to know Gary and his bride Joan. I had the pleasure in helping them with computer issues the past 10 years or so and Gary would always tell me how amazed he was with my computer knowledge, I always had to laugh, here I stood next to a man who flew 747's and he was impressed with my computer skills? Gary knew how to praise and appreciate other peoples skills. I will always remember his Godly demeanor, his wisdom, insight and friendship. We will meet again my friend in our Lord's Heavenly Kingdom.

Gary was a great man and a great friend. All treasured his sense of humor -- and his ability to sleep in any circumstance --- in particular when we traveled to Israel.
