GARY E. THOMPSON, age 78, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 28, 2023 at his home in Circleville, Ohio.
He was born on September 5,1944 in Washington Court House, Ohio to Ernest and Emogene Thompson. He graduated in 1962 from Washington Court House High School.
In 1964, he earned a finance degree from Columbus Business University. He graduated from Ohio Christian University in 1976. He proceeded on to Wesley Biblical Seminary and graduated in 1979 with a Master of Divinity.
He has pastored churches most of his life! First in Mississippi while going to school; Ackerman Independent Methodist Church, then Amory and Aberdeen Ind. Methodist Churches as pulpit supply. Galion, Ohio, Wesley Chapel for 11 years. Beulah Chapel, Chillicothe, OH, for 20 years. He taught as an adjunct professor for Ohio Christian University for about 13 years. He loved preaching and teaching God's word! He enjoyed golf and poetry.
He is preceded in death by his brother Bob Thompson, and his daughter Bethany Thompson Moreno.
Survivors include his wife Ele whom he married June 5, 1977, daughter Rachel (Cory) Swinderman, son Jesse Thompson, and son-in-law Julio Moreno. Grandchildren include Carter and Emma Swinderman; and Oliver, Charlotte, and Madeline Thompson. His siblings, Jack Thompson, Mary Pettit, Jenette Leedy, Herbert Thompson, and Connie Smith, as well as other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Church, 5679 Tarlton Road, Circleville, OH on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Giving your condolences to the family will take place after the memorial service. Burial will follow at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery, Circleville, Ohio and conclude with a meal at Crossroads Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Crossroads Church Building Fund at the above address.
