Obituary published on Legacy.com by Summers Funeral Home on Feb. 4, 2026.
Tim Russell Britton, 67, of Washington Court House Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in the comfort of his home with his loving wife, Gloria, whom he married on February 11, 1989, by his side. Tim was born on March 4, 1958, in
Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Earnest Eugene "Gene" and Elmira (Russell) Britton of Kinnikinnick. He was a 1976 graduate of Zane Trace High School in
Chillicothe, Ohio.
To describe Tim in just a few words is nearly impossible. Tim was a humble soul. A man filled with love, strength, patience, generosity, selflessness and resiliency. With a vibrant, calming and magnetic personality, Tim enjoyed a good laugh and wasn't afraid to show his emotions, always with happy tears. A family man, devoted husband, a proud father, "papaw", "pap pap" and great friend to all.
Tim was a faithful member and servant at Crossroads Christian Church in Washington Court House. He, a man of devout faith, has seen his share of trials involving his health over the last 13 years, but never once did he complain or let his faith waiver. He spent his life enjoying the little things, weekends at the camper playing cards with loved ones, golfing with his pals and son, and trips to the Amish with his best friends. As reserved as Tim could be, if there was a dance floor, he was on it. Tim liked playing and watching basketball and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. His tooth was just as sweet as he was. He had an endless supply of Neco wafers, Ho Ho's, Ding Dongs, Twinkies, Werther's, and Bits O' Honey. However, what he enjoyed most was supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities. Both Tim and Gloria were active members of the Miami Trace Athletic Boosters for multiple years. Tim enjoyed sitting next to his wife in the stands during his children's sporting events, attending 4H competitions, theater performances, art shows and watching his daughter dance gracefully at church. Tim never missed a chance to be with his wife and kids.
Tim was the only Service Manager to ever work at Gusweiler GM Center, where he retired after 39 years. Making lasting impacts on his employees, co-workers and customers. His love for cars was not only a career to support his family, but a hobby he enjoyed with his son and older brothers. From the garage working on engines to flying down the racetrack, The Britton Bro's were unstoppable.
Tim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gloria Britton, Son, Tyler (Brianna) Britton of Jamestown, Daughter, Taylor Britton of Washington Court House; grandchildren, Cole & Lydia Britton of Jamestown. Chosen family; daughters, Angie Jacobs (Ronnie) of Washington Court House, Leslie (Nathan) Kinney of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Bradly (Taylor) Thacker of Leesburg, Camron Thacker of Washington Court House, Katlin (Skylar) Thacker of Hillsboro, Jordan (Reece) Bloomfield of Hillsboro, Jaden Moberly of Mt. Orab, Jase (Laila) Moberly of Mt. Orab; great grandchild, Maxis Brown of Hillsboro.
Including his immediate family, Tim is also survived by sister, Bonnie Parr of Hillsboro; brothers Terry (Bonnie) Britton of Hillsboro, Tony (Jana) Britton of Chillicothe; Sister in-laws, Alice Jewett of Columbus, Darlene Hodges of Washington Court House; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, grand-pups, his dog Lilly and special prayer pals, Barrett and Beau Lynch of Washington Court House.
In addition to his parents, Tim is proceeded in death by, parent-in-laws, Howard and Stella (Benny Heightfield) Funk; grandson Daxton Jean; Brother-in-laws Will Parr and Robert Funk; and best friend Benji Self.
Tim will be missed dearly by all who knew him. To know Tim was to know affection and grace. He was a safe place for many. We find comfort in knowing that he is at peace in the arms of Jesus.
