Gary G. Thoms, 78, of Posen, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory.
Gary was born September 15, 1947 in Blue Island, IL the son of Raymond and Dorothy (Flassig) Thoms. Gary worked as a diesel mechanic for Cummins and Aggreko. He was a jack of all trades and loved to tinker, but much to his families dismay, he never finished any of his projects. He was an excellent cook, griller, baker, and was always trying to master new techniques to feed his family. If you ever went to his house, you never left hungry. He also wouldn't hesitate to help anyone he could.
He is a cherished significant other; a beloved father to his children; a "grumpy grampy" to his six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; as well as a loving brother to his two surviving sisters and a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings.
Memorial contributions in Gary's honor may be directed to the family to be distributed to causes that were important to him.
