Gary Tice, 74 of Lynnville, passed away Saturday morning, July 19, 2025 at the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at the Lynnville Friends Church in Lynnville. Burial will be held in the Woodland Cemetery at Lynnville. Visitation will begin after 12:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in the FCC Building at the Friends Church with the family present from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to greet friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blakely Stevens American Legion Post #169 of Montezuma or the Hospice of Pella Comfort House. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements. Garold Loren Tice, the son of Roger and Phyllis (Plate) Tice, was born on March 31, 1951 in Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Lynnville-Sully High School with the class of 1970 and then attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls. Gary worked a short time with his dad at the elevator before being drafted by the United States Navy. Following his honorably discharge, Gary returned to Lynnville and worked for his parents at the Lynnville Elevator for 20 years. Gary was united in marriage to Betty Breniman on September 30, 1972. To this union three boys were born, Chris, Curtis and Cory. Gary was also a salesman for Grain Vac before driving truck for Van Wyk Freight lines for 12 years and most recently driving for Key COOP retiring due to his declining health. Gary enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the races, especially Oskaloosa and Marshalltown and telling stories. He loved watching his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Gary was a member of the Lynnville Friends Church and the Blakely-Stevens American Legion Post 169 in Montezuma. His memory will be honored by his sons, Chris (Deanne) Tice of Lynnville, Curtis Tice of Montezuma and Cory (Shawna) Tice of Sully; his six grandchildren, Tyler Tice, Hadley (Blake) Veenstra, Makayla Tice, Kinsley Tice, Brilynn Tice and Carter Tice; his sister, Becky (Greg) Northcutt of Montezuma; Betty Tice along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Phyllis Tice.
