Gary Webb Obituary

Gary Paul Webb, a fiercely devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on November 22, 2025, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, at the age of 66. Gary was born on March 7, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived a life rich in love and laughter, characterized by tireless dedication to his work, passion for his many, MANY hobbies, athletics, and activities; and an unparalleled commitment to his family.

For an impressive 35 years, Gary worked as a lineman and cable technician with Verizon and its predecessor communication companies from Baltimore to D.C. An incredibly hard worker, his dedication to a job well done was outmatched only by his loyalty to his loved ones, and he will be remembered for the rich relationships he fostered with so many throughout his life.

Gary graduated from Glen Burnie High School with pride as a multi-sport athlete, having a foundation built on tenacity, team-first mindset, and sense of fair play. These qualities followed him throughout his life, as he embraced all challenges with quiet resolve.

A true lover of sports, Gary found limitless joy (and equal frustration) in every possible way. Whether playing, watching, officiating, or leading teams; he was a lifelong fan of the Orioles, Ravens, Capitals, and Terps. He was a beloved coach of several youth hockey teams for over a decade while also moonlighting as a referee for youth and adult hockey leagues across Maryland. Music also filled Gary’s soul as he delighted in playing the guitar for his family and friends, knowing the words to every single song (prior to 1985ish), and Parrotheading his way through countless Jimmy Buffett shows. Camping, hiking, and fishing were among his favorite times in nature, with cherished memories from hiking through five states along the stunning Appalachian Trail to the simplest camp outs with family and friends.

Gary loved each of his dogs as his own children and they loved him back even more.

Although somehow with a heart this big and full, none of it compared to the immeasurable joy, pride, and kindness he had for his grandchildren, Lilou Webb, Dean Tolstoi, and Wesley Tolstoi, creating memories and instilling an uncommonly beautiful spirit that will endure and flourish throughout their lives.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Renee Webb, who stood by his side through thick and thin. They made a home where anyone and everyone would feel welcome and loved. Together, they built a family that includes their son, Douglas Webb, their daughter, Lauren Tolstoi, Douglas’s wife Christine, and Lauren’s husband Brennan. And of course, those three amazing grandchildren whose Peepaw/Peeya couldn’t find enough ways to spoil.

He leaves behind his loving siblings, Pamela Wills, William "Skipper" Webb, Michael "Scott" Webb, Kevin Webb, and Greg Webb, as well as eleven nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and love, and his mother-in-law/game show partner in crime, Constance Wroblewski.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and William Webb, as well as his father-in-law, Paul Wroblewski, all of whose warmth and guidance shaped the man he became. Their influence will always be felt through the lives he touched.

A visitation will be held on November 26, 2025, at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A. in Glen Burnie, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 PM. In these moments, friends and family will gather to honor a remarkable life filled with compassion, adventure, and unwavering support for all those who knew him. Gary's legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege to call him family or friend.
