William Elseroad Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A. on Mar. 4, 2026.
William D. Elseroad, a dedicated machinist and beloved family man, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Glen Burnie, Maryland. He was born on January 31, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, and spent most of his life in Linthicum, until he moved to Glen Burnie in 2009.

Bill devoted an impressive 42 years of his life to his career as a machinist, working for Westinghouse and later Northrop Grumman. His dedication to his craft was evident in the precision and care he brought to his work, earning the respect of colleagues and family alike. He also held a membership in the IBEW Local 24. In his earlier years, he operated heavy equipment including backhoes, and dump trucks with his father.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was a man of many passions. He cherished his time spent boating, fishing, crabbing, hunting, and RV camping, pursuits that reflected his love for the great outdoors and the joy he found in nature and the Chesapeake Bay. These hobbies were not simply pastimes for him; they were integral to the life he led with family and friends, creating cherished memories amidst the beauty of the world around him. Bill was also a member of the Stoney Creek Rod and Gun Club. He also volunteered with the Boy Scouts troop 550 in Linthicum.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Kathy Elseroad, and his devoted son, Travis Elseroad. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Donald Claxton (Paige), Douglas Claxton (Mary), Cheryl Claxton George (Kevin), Roberta Amrhein, Robert Zimmerman, Laurie Rice, Charles Zimmerman (Kerry), Richard Zimmerman, Timothy Kane, Karen Robinson, Jeffrey McLain and Darren McLain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Lucille C. Elseroad, whom he truly loved; his sisters, Carol Claxton, Barbara Zimmerman, and Betty Williams; and his three nieces, Nancy Lee Zimmerman, Leslie Kane and Valerie McLain, who have now welcomed him with open arms.

The legacy of William D. Elseroad will endure through the lives he touched, the stories shared, and the love imprinted in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Monday, March 9th from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's name may be made to either the Glen Burnie or Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company.
