In Loving Memory of Gary D. Wright
June 29, 1954 – October 30, 2025

Born in Morganton on June 29, 1954, Gary was one of three children of the late Molly and Dewey Wright. Growing up across from Mimosa Hills Golf Club, he developed a lifelong passion for golf. Whether on the fairway or watching a tournament from his favorite chair, the game was his happy place, and he shared that love with everyone around him.

Gary built a successful career in medical sales, where his natural charisma, empathy, and work ethic shined. He took great pride in helping people — supporting physicians, connecting with patients, and mentoring colleagues. Over the years, he built an incredible network of friends and clients across the Carolinas who admired his genuine care and friendship.

Gary found joy in adventure and the outdoors. A true enthusiast of life on and above the water, he was an avid boater and pilot. He loved skiing and spending time near the ocean — from the crystal-clear waters of Grand Cayman, to the serene Canadian coastline he explored with Lorna, and especially the familiar shores of Lake Norman and Myrtle Beach, two places that meant the world to him. He loved sharing these passions those he loved — whether out on the water, carving down Vail’s slopes with Spencer, or exploring shores in Canada with Lorna.

Gary lived life to the fullest. He never met a stranger, had a laugh that could fill a room, and was always the first to hit the dance floor. He was a man of strong faith, whose belief in God guided how he lived, loved, and treated others. His faith gave him strength, and it showed through in his kindness, generosity, and optimism.

He is survived by his son, Spencer Wright, daughter-in-law Rachel Wright, and soon-to-be grandson; his devoted longtime partner, Lorna Ronald; his brother, Doug Wright; and his sister, Maxine Turner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or First Tee, an organization that teaches children life skills through golf.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Raymer Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina. Friends and family are invited to join afterward to raise a cold Coors Light and share stories, laughter, and memories of a man who truly lived large and loved deeply.
