Gary J. Wright

Gary J. Wright, 84, of Munising, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025 Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba following several years of declining health.
Gary was born in Pleasant Lake, MI on October 24, 1941 to parents Arlo Clark and Zella Elizabeth (Robinson) Wright. He was the oldest of nine children, Diane, Louie, Arlo "Clark," Michael, Edna, Nettie, Jackie, and Joyce Ann.
He was a 1960 graduate of Stockbridge High School. Gary worked various jobs as a butcher, tool and die maker, and finally as a corrections officer for the Michigan Department of Corrections.
On August 26, 1962, Gary married the former Mary Drew in Munith, MI and together they raised their five children William Wright of Munising, Beth Wright of Ishpeming, Peter (Marilynn) Wright of Ishpeming, Rebecca (Quinn) Barrios of Gladstone, and Hope (Doug) Neun of Jackson.
In 1972 Gary's job brought him and his family to the beautiful Upper Peninsula's town of Munising. There, Gary loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches.
Gary retired in 1996 after 29 years of service to the state of Michigan. Gary is survived by his wife, Mary, of 63 years; their five children; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brother, Michael, and sisters, Diane and Jacquelynn.
A private celebration of life will take place in the spring.
