Gary Lee Yonke

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Yonke, age 78, who passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on November 29, 1946, in Bay City, Michigan, to the late Raymond C. Yonke and Janet R. Yonke (Maxwell). He proudly served in the United States Air Force, embodying the values of duty, honor, and service throughout his life. Gary retired from CarQuest Distribution Center, where he worked many dedicated years and built lasting friendships with his coworkers.

On November 20, 1979, Gary married the love of his life, Alicia Yonke (Silva). Together they shared 45 years of marriage built on trust, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Their bond was the heart of their family.

Gary was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Alicia Yonke; his daughter, Salina Silva; and his son, Gary C. Yonke, and daughter-in-law Tara Yonke.

He was a proud grandfather to Sophia Yonke and Gray Yonke, and loved them with all his heart. His face lit up whenever he spoke about them or spent time with them. Gary also held a special place in his heart for his late grandson, Gary C. Yonke Jr., who preceded him in death and is now reunited with him.

Gary is also survived by his sister, Nancy Gatza and her husband Jim, and his brother, Richard Yonke and his wife Jeanne. He

will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who were touched by his kindness and quiet strength.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Raymond and Janet Yonke; his grandson, Gary C. Yonke Jr.; his beloved in-laws, Cipriana and Catarino Silva; and many aunts and uncles.

Gary will be remembered for his gentle nature, steady presence, and deep devotion to those he loved. He led a life of integrity and humility, finding joy in simple things and always putting family first. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home in Bay City on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life luncheon for family and friends will be planned and announced at a later date.
