With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Zancanelli, Sr. Gary was born in South San Francisco, California, on May 29, 1946, to Arthur and Irene Zancanelli.
A proud graduate of South San Francisco High School, Class of 1964, Gary entered the U.S. Army at the young age of 18, where he honorably served his country for more than two years-an achievement he carried with great pride.
At 18, Gary married the love of his life, Arlene Caloiaro, and together they shared an extraordinary 60 years of marriage.
Gary dedicated his life to serving his community through his work at KFC in Santa Rosa, California, a career he loved and took great pride in. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, raising three children: Gary Jr. (deceased), Gina Agelopoulos, and Dina Zancanelli.
Family was at the heart of Gary's life. He especially cherished time spent with his beloved grandchildren: Kristin, Mikayla, Jonelle, Gary III, Mikey, and Johnny. To them, he was affectionately known as "Papa"-a name that became his lasting legacy.
Gary will be remembered for his patience, kindness, strong work ethic, and quick wit. He could light up a room with his humor and brought joy to everyone who knew him. He was generous, thoughtful, and deeply loved.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Arlene; his sisters, Marion Coletto and Sharon Oranje; and his daughters, Gina Agelopoulos and Dina Zancanelli.
Papa's love and laughter will forever live on in our hearts. He will be missed dearly.
