Wagener, South Carolina - Irmo- Mr. Gatlin M "Buddy" Gunter, 74 passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was born July 27, 1951 in Wagener, South Carolina to the late Gatlin Gunter and Mary-Inez Snipes. Mr. Gunter joined the Marines and served for 6 years. He became a self-employed handyman, mechanic, and carpenter; and built his own houses.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Betty Smith Gunter; daughter, Tina Gunter; son, Kit Gunter; sisters, Patricia Hoover- Repic (Tom), Sarah Shealy (Mickey), Susan Yon; 2 grandchildren, Serenity Gunter (her mother, Kaylor Skipper), and Kit Gunter Jr. (his mother, Jamie Gunter) and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend/roommate, Steven L. Hunt from The Place at Martinez Hospice Center, Martinez, Georgia. He was predeceased by is parents and sister, Margaret Johnson Goff. Celebration of life and interment at Fort Jackson National Cemetery/ Columbarium.
