Gayle Kathleen Cooley, a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Athens, Pennsylvania, with her adoring daughters by her side. Born on April 24, 1949, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Gayle's life was a testament to the power of generosity and the warmth of a caring heart.
Gayle's journey began as the cherished daughter of George L. and Charlotte (Butler) Robinson. She grew up surrounded by the love of her family, including her sister Shirley and her brother Ray. Her early years set a foundation of compassion and service that would define her life.
In 1970, Gayle's life blossomed in a new direction when she married her soulmate, David A. Cooley, Jr., on a beautiful Fourth of July. Together, they built a life filled with joy and laughter, welcoming two daughters, Rhaylene Cooley (Tom Pardoe) and Victoria Cooley (John Mazzarese) who were her pride and joy. Gayle's love for her family was unparalleled, but it was her granddaughter Samantha who truly captured her heart. She was the apple of Gayle's eye, a special bond that brought endless joy to her life. She will also be missed by her nephews: nephews, Ray and Clifford. Her home was a haven for her beloved cats, Lighting, Shadow, Turmeric, Cloves, Cinnamon, and her grandcat Alex, who brought her comfort and companionship. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Charlotte, and her brother, Ray.
An alumna of Northeast Bradford High School, class of 1967, Gayle went on to fulfill her calling as a caregiver, graduating from Wilson Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. She dedicated many years of her life as a Registered Nurse to UHS, where her gentle touch and warm presence were a comfort to countless individuals.
Gayle's interests extended beyond her professional life. She and David shared a love for travel, exploring the world together, yet always found the greatest peace in their home in LeRaysville, Pennsylvania. Gayle's love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and she took immense pride in every family achievement, large or small.
Those who knew Gayle would describe her as the embodiment of love, kindness, and generosity. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her impact on the lives she touched was immeasurable.
