Christian Biography of Gayle Ryan Eitzmann
Gayle Ryan Eitzmann, the son of Adolph and Loriene (Duensing) Eitzmann, was born on June 5, 1953 in
Superior, Nebraska. He passed away on April 5, 2025 at his home near
Superior, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, and 10 months surrounded by his family.
Gayle was baptized (6/21/1953) and confirmed (5/21/1967) at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron, was a lifelong Lutheran and a current member of Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior.
Gayle attended grade school and high school in Byron, graduating in 1971. Then he attended Fairbury Junior College for accounting and graduated in 1973.
On March 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to Carla Jensby at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Byron. This union was blessed with three children, Kelly, Corey and Kami. Gayle and Carla were married for 50 years.
Gayle worked at Farmers Coop Elevator in Byron after graduating from college. He started trucking at Jensby Trucking and farming in the Spring of 1976. He played a big role in the company for 49 years. He drove thirteen different semis and over 3 million miles during his lifetime. Through all these miles Gayle only had one accident where straight-line winds caused his truck and trailer to be laid over. Gayle was fortunate enough to work closely with his beloved family members. Gayle worked side by side with his father in law for over 44 years. Corey and Gayle spent hundreds of nights on the road together and drove hundreds of thousands of miles together. Gayle also spent countless hours working with Carla and Kami in the trucking office. He always looked forward to coming home to one of Carla's home cooked meals.
Trucking was not the only thing that contributed to Gayle's work ethic. Gayle and Carla moved to their farm and home in 1987. Gayle stayed busy planting and harvesting while also maintaining his herd of cattle. In 1997 Kelly joined the family farm. Kelly and Gayle spent numerous hours together working on machinery, working cattle, farming, and much more. Through all of this he instilled his strong work ethic into the lives of his children.
Gayle enjoyed spending time at Lovewell Lake with Carla, the kids and grandkids. Every family vacation seemed to involve a lake. Gayle was excellent at water skiing and enjoyed taking the grandchildren tubing. Because of Gayle's love of the lake, all of the kids eventually got their own campers and appreciated spending family time camping. Many family vacations were also spent in Branson. Gayle and Carla knew the importance of spending time with their family and did monthly family outings with all of Gayle's siblings. Gayle and Carla also enjoyed their season tickets to Husker Football games for many years.
Gayle's biggest joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the happiest on the weekends when everyone was home. There were many evenings spent at Kami's house to enjoy family meals with all of the family present.
Gayle was a former member of the Hardy Fire Department, Superior Rural Fire Board and was a Church Elder. Being a Church Elder was a great reflection of his strong faith he carried throughout his life.
Gayle was diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2022 and seemed to overcome that. However, in March, 2024, he was diagnosed with lung cancer and fought a courageous battle until the end.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Loriene, in-laws Kenneth and Shirley Jensby and sister in-law Lynnis Eitzmann.
