Gayle Marion Ilacqua, 70, a longtime resident of Stoughton, after a brief illness, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Daughter of Rosalie G. (Grady) Ilacqua of Stoughton and the late Robert D. Ilacqua, she was born in Watertown and raised in Stoughton. Gayle was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1973. She then earned an Associate Degree from Massasoit Community College in Brockton in 1975 and a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Worcester State College in 1983. She worked for a medical supply company in Brockton for over 20 years and then she worked at Stop & Shop in Stoughton for over 10 years before retiring at age 65. In her forties and fifties, she enjoyed traveling with her mother, Rosalie, throughout the world. As she got older, she enjoyed watching television but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her mother, Gayle is survived by her brothers, Gary D. Ilacqua and his partner Bernice Cheverie of Stoughton, Glen R. Ilacqua and his wife Janet of Easton and Gene R. Ilacqua and his partner Maureen Gallagher of Stoughton. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Friday, December 20 from 9-10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gayle’s memory may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
