Gayle Nellie Scadden

Gayle Nellie (middle name not to be mentioned again out loud) Scadden joined her sweetheart and son in Heaven after passing peacefully in her sleep at home on October 6, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born in Bloomington, ID, to Hubert and Mamie Jacobson on July 24, 1935. She spent her younger years helping out on her family farm. They moved to Washington Terrace, UT, when she was six years old to help with World War II. She went to school and graduated from the old Weber High School in 1953.

 

The day after graduating she married her sweetheart, Bob Scadden. They had two beautiful children together, Bob Jr. and Lisa. Then in January 1965 were sealed as a family for all time and eternity in the Logan Temple.

 

Gayle was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the church but her favorite by far was being the church librarian with her best friend, Marcene for 40 plus years. In her professional life she worked for IRS and retired after 30 plus years of service.

 

She enjoyed several hobbies including singing, embroidery, playing slot machine games on her kindle (shhh!), catching the best bargains out shopping, watching the Game Show Network, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and most important of all supporting her family in all of their endeavors.

 

You will never meet another person as strong and determined as her. She cared about everyone else up to her last day.

 

Gayle is survived by her daughter, Lisa Meacham of Washington Terrace; daughter-in-law, Tracey Scadden; nine grandchildren, Mindi (Mike) Koegel, Randy (Ashlyn) Scadden, Skylar (Natalie) Scadden, Tanner Scadden, Keesha (Colton) Fernelius, Keaton Scadden, Makade (Victorieya) Meacham, Riley (Megan) Scadden, and Myles Meacham; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; as well as one sister, Arleene Warner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Sr.; son, Bob Jr.; great-grandson, Brogan; parents, Hubert and Mamie; four brothers, Nard, Jene, Dean, Gary; and two sisters, Leona and Joyce.

 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Washington Terrace 3rd Ward, 4855 South 300 West. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

 

The family would like to thank the incredible care of Victorieya and the hospice company Community Nursing Service for helping take such great care of her this last week. As well as the help from friends, family and neighbors.

 

The world may not be the same without her, but her miraculous heart lives on in each of us.
