Gaynell Marie Darensburg Adams, M.Ed. entered into eternal rest at her residence on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the age of 59. She was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Marrero, LA, Gaynell was a proud graduate of L.B. Landry Sr. High School, where she excelled academically and was actively involved in various leadership roles, including JROTC, the Honor Roll, Student Counsel, Varsity Prep Quiz Bowl, Honor Society, Top 10 Graduates and served as Class Vice President. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Our Lady of Holy Cross College in 1990 and later received a Master of Science in Education—Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment—from Walden University in 2016. She began her teaching career at McDonogh #32 Elementary before transitioning into her beloved role as a librarian. Even in retirement, her love for education continued as an adjunct librarian at Delgado Community College’s Westbank Campus. Devoted wife of Brian Adams, Sr. for over 29 years. Loving mother of Faith Y. Adams, LoriElle I. Adams, Brian M. Adams, Jr., and Shanté M. Adams. Proud grandmother of Zayden M. Adams. Daughter of the late Burnell Darensburg, Jr., and Ethel Ricard. Granddaughter of the late Burnell “Pete” W. Darensburg, Sr., Virginia Mitchell, Frances and Edward Ricard, Sr. Sister of Troy Sr., Tyrone, Percy, Tannard, Sr., Jarvis, and Mark Darensburg, Aaron Ricard, Ranell Jones, Veronica Jean, and the late Burnell W. Darensburg, III, and Eric Ricard. Gaynell is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited also pastors, officers, and members of Life Center Cathedral, Empowerment Church, Mt. Calvary International Worship Center, Jesus is Lord, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Life Center Cathedral 2100 Ames Blvd, Marrero, LA on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Bishop J. D. Wiley officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Westlawn Cemetery-Gretna, LA.
