Gemma Church Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Raffeo - DiCecco Memorial Home, Inc. on Mar. 29, 2026.
Gemma V. Church, of Norristown, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at the age of 57.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Linnie and Joanne (Ragucci) Church, and stepdaughter of David Engard, and the devoted and loving mother of Stephanie Santangelo.

Gemma attended Norristown High School and graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. She went on to work for many years at Vanguard. Known for her humor and vibrant personality, Gemma had a natural ability to light up any room. She embraced life fully, finding joy in music-especially the songs of Stevie Nicks-attending concerts, and making lasting memories with those she loved most.

Above all, Gemma cherished her family and friends. She had a generous spirit and a welcoming heart, treating friends like family and always opening her arms and her home to others. Her greatest pride and joy was her daughter, Stephanie.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by her brother, William Church; her niece, Desiree; her great nephew, Dominick; and her stepfather, David Engard. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Caroline and Jennifer; her brother, Linnie; her nephew, Derek; her grandparents, Joseph and Caroline Ragucci; and her daughter's father, Brett Santangelo, with whom she shared a special bond.

Her laughter was unforgettable-bright, contagious, and full of life. It had a way of filling a room, bringing comfort, joy, and connection to everyone lucky enough to hear it. That laughter, and the love behind it, will echo in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Funeral services will be held privately at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to https://gofund.me/0c8aca7b9.
