Gena Whaley Obituary
GENA SIMONE WHALEY, age 56 of Athens TN. passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. A native and life long resident of McMinn county, she is the daughter of Bob and Carolyn Whaley.
She is preceded in death by Grandparents, Norman and Alma King, Ray and Carline Weir, Charles Whaley.
She is a graduate of McMinn County High school and a graduate of ETSU in Johnson City with a degree in psychology with spending her career working as a social worker.
Survivors:
Father and Mother, Bob and Carolyn Whaley; 3 Children, Haley Manney (Caleb Bremer), Paige (Haden) Buckner and Parker Manney; 1 grandchild, Stetson Buckner; Several Cousins and many special friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Butch Quillen officiating. The visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM prior to the service. The graveside service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in McMinn Memory Gardens with Dennie Humphreys officiating. Active pallbearers will be Parker Manney, Haden Buckner, Caleb Bremer, Tony Hester, Logan Shamblin and Dylan Carpenter.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Keith United Methodist Church of Athens or TWU Womens Track and field scholorship fund
