Sam Shanahan age 56 of Madisonville passed away, Monday, January 26, 2026 at UT Medical Center in Knoxille.
She was a native of Sweetwater and current resident of Madisonville.
She was a daughter of the late Woody, Jr. and Eva Jo Jennkins Wilson and was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Rogers and a brother-in-law. Duker Johnkins.
She had a lot of job titles, loving mother, homemaker with her favorite title being Memaw. She also loved being a softball coach.
Survivors:
1 Son and Daughter-in-law, Brandon and Allyson Shanahan of Madisonville;
1 daughter, Brittany Shanahan of Madisonville;
5 grandchildren Dee McCowan, Rayah McCowan, Kailani Shanahan, Lucas White and Ronan White;
Husband, James Shanahan of Madisonville;
7 sisters and brothers-in-law, Cherie (Gary) Hughes, Teresa (David) Hill, Aleisa Hughes, Sheila Moser, Marie (Blake) Hockman, Linda Cardin, Brenda (Craig) Farmer.
Special nieces Deborah Jan Hughes and Mack Cardin
Several other nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM Thursday, January 29, 2026 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Jenkins, James Shanahan and Michael Paul officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2026 at Sweeetwater Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Zack Neil, Austin Farmer, Justin Farmer, Brandon Shanahan, James Shanahan and Brody Cardin. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews whom she loved dearly.
