Gene Arthur Dickeson of
San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, wisdom, and deep connection. His final days were a perfect reflection of the joy he cultivated: two full days spent with his children, highlighted by the tradition of deep-frying a turkey, sharing jokes, reminiscing about his childhood, and listening to music. On Thanksgiving Day, he shared a characteristic pleasure-watching all three football games with his one and only son, Michael-a day he always called "perfect," amidst the laughter and enthusiastic yelling at the TV, especially when the Cowboys won.
Born on August 4, 1962, in
Cheyenne, Wyoming, and adopted by the late Charles and Joyce Dickeson, Gene was a beloved father, an extraordinary friend, and a man who absolutely loved and adored his wife, Geneva.
A particularly cherished aspect of his life was his chosen family. Gene was just four years old when his parents befriended William and Trinity Reyes and their many children. Gene met their son, Gilbert Reyes, who instantly became his best friend and eventually his brother. Gene could go on and on with stories about growing up with Gilbert, and he deeply appreciated that sibling-like relationship, which lasted a lifetime-a bond that the children and grandchildren still carry on today.
Gene's favorite activity was listening to music. He befriended Jeff and Angela Varoff, who had a rock-and-roll band. Jeff sings and plays the guitar, and Angela sings. These two musicians became a part of Gene's life, spending time together and sharing many dinner dates over a span of 20-plus years.
He loved bowling with his family, particularly enjoying Friday nights at Turner's Club with his wife and son, Michael. He shared this passion deeply with Michael, often mentoring his son, and the two bonded by being on the same bowling team for years.
Gene treasured his immediate family. He was a single father to his firstborn, Christina, and he truly cherished those years, loving his firstborn oh so dearly. His greatest pride was his children's success and watching his grandson, Isaiah, play football. He cherished every conversation with his children-Christina, Michael, Kassidy, Lucinda, and Dakota-and especially adored his grandchildren: Noel, Isaiah, Sidney, and Renesmiee.
Gene lived a full and generous life, leaving the world a little brighter and certainly much funnier. He will be deeply missed and eternally loved.
