Charlie Marshall Funeral Homes & Crematory - Aransas PassHazel Marguerite Moore passed away at the age of 95 on March 2, 2026 at The Viera in Corpus Christi, Texas. She finally succumbed to the congestive heart failure she had suffered from for some time.
Margo, as she was known to many, was born on January 4th, 1931 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles Holton Smith and Hazel Blossom Stotts Smith. The Smith family moved to Port Aransas, Texas when she was six, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Aransas Pass High School in May of 1947. On September 25th of the same year, she married another Port Aransan, Carlos William Moore.
In an island town fishing is a predominant sport and became one of Marguerite's passions. Hunting, bowling, and playing cards were among her other passions. When she wasn't helping Carlos at their business, Bilmore and Son, or attending her children's sporting events, you could probably find her participating in one of those four passions. She was also a member of The Daughters of the Nile. Eventually life circumstances thrust her back into business, running Bilmore and Son. Many customers were treated to Port Aransas tidbits and memories of hers through the years. She sold the business to Donny D'Herde and retired in 2001 to spend more time pursuing her passions once again, and visiting family, which by then included several grandchildren. She moved from Port Aransas in 2008 to Corpus Christi where she spent the rest of her life except for a brief time in the Houston area.
She is survived by her daughter, March Whitehead and husband, Jimmy; her daughter, Corliss Buttler and husband, Ernie; chosen son, Donny D'Herde and wife, Nancy; daughters-in-law, Janice Moore and Grace Moore; sister-in-law, Marie Smith; grandchildren Stefani Ducote, Carl Moore, Shera Ballard, Randy D'Herde, Shawn Stevens, Tasha Lyssy, Ande Faseler, Brian D'Herde, Lindsay Moore, Amanda Moore; step-grandchildren Tom Robinson and Donna Robinson; many great-grandchildren along with several great-great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos; her sons, Carl (Toots) William Moore III and Trent Holten Moore; her mother, Hazel Smith and father, Charles Smith; her brothers, Kenneth Smith, R. H. Smith, W. O. Smith, and sister Charlene Laurel.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14th at 10:00 AM in Port Aransas at the Community Presbyterian Church, 113 S. Alister Street, with interment to follow at Royal Palms Cemetery, 2342 South 11th Street, Port Aransas. A gathering of friends and family will follow at the Community Presbyterian Church Hall.
