A loving father and grandfather, Gene's legacy continues through his children, Gene Patrick Erwin (married to Sandra), Eric Brian Erwin (married to Gabriella), and Amy Denise Mayfield (married to Alan), as well as through his adoring eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Although he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marsha Erwin, his parents, Gene and Velora Gertrude Jacobs Erwin, and his sister Janice Cummins, his memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving sisters, Deborah Crump (married to Scotty) and Missy Mandy (married to Kris).
Gene dedicated many years of service to Dresser Industries, where he retired as a Maintenance Supervisor and plant engineer. His colleagues knew him as a man of integrity, commitment, and wisdom.
Outside of his professional life, Gene was a devout member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, finding solace and strength in his faith. In his free time, he enjoyed watching westerns and spending countless hours working on and expanding his impressive collection of model trains
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Friday, November 7, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home with Pastor Joey Kays officiating. Visitation will be from 12 pm to 2 pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
