Gene Rodney "Rod" Fulsom of Heavener, Oklahoma (formerly of Houston, Texas) was born February 16, 1931 in Weldon, Texas to Henry Sye and Zora Louise (Adams) Fulsom and passed away on October 31, 2025 at his home in Heavener, Oklahoma at the age of 94.
Rod was born and raised in Texas. He served during the Korea War in the United States Air Force from December 29, 1950 to December 2, 1954. Rod married the love of his life, Barbara June Jones on April 21, 1951. After the service, he had a long career as an Executive at Permian Oil Company, where he traveled all throughout the United States.
After retirement, he and Barbara moved to Oklahoma where they spent the next 35 years, raising cattle, attending the Alamo trail ride and riding horses (and mules) all over the South Eastern Oklahoma. He served as President on the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center Hospital Board for 14 years and also installed the rural water system in Haw Creek. He lived his life on his own terms and died peacefully at his home.
Rod is survived by his son, Michael Rodney Fulsom and wife, Paula of Trinity, Texas; daughter, Debbie (Fulsom) Lambert and husband, Reagan of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; grandchildren, Kadey (Fulsom) Cochran and husband, Jason of Liberty Hill, Texas, Lissie (Fulsom) Hagerman of Stamford, Connecticut, Silas Fulsom and wife, April of Trinity, Texas, Allison (Lambert) Jackson and husband, Jacob of Tenino, Washington, Zach Lambert and wife, Amy of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Madison, Sean, and Molly Cochran, Trintin, Deklan, and Lilly Fulsom, Judah and Major Lambert; numerous nieces, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara, (Jones) Fulsom; and brother, Jack Fulsom.
Graveside services with military honors for Gene Rodney "Rod" Fulsom will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at the Weldon Cemetery in Weldon, Texas with Pastor Tim Ramsey officiating.
