SERVICES: There will be a Rosary followed by a Memorial Service at Anderson Bethany funeral home located at 2609 S. Main Street, Roswell, NM 88203 on July 6, 2023, starting at 9:30AM with the Memorial Service to begin at 10:00 AM.
Gene was born on January 15, 1948, to Dora and Manuel Gutierrez. He Married Phyllis Gutierrez on September 24, 1966, in Roswell, NM. Gene was a member of the catholic church. Before retirement Gene worked as a construction worker for his own company for his entire working career. Gene was a very caring and kindhearted man. He loved going to Ruidoso with his wife to gamble and spend the day there. He was the biggest Raider fan you will ever meet and loved watching the Raiders play football. One of his favorite pass times was to sit out on the porch with his "vecino" Tony drinking his beer. We were blessed to have Gene here on earth for 75 years. He was an amazing father, grandfather and husband and may he now rest in peace.
Those left to eternally treasure and cherish memories of Gene are his spouse, Phyllis; children: Gene Jr, Michael, Steven, and Viola who he considered his daughter and her sister Franchesca; A special sunshine in his life, Renee and her children whom he loved dearly; Brother, Leandro; sister Dora(Bebe); grandchildren Elizabeth, Felisa, Destiny, Brianna, Manuel, Allyssa, Sean and Michael; nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his Parents: Dora and Manuel; son, Steve; grandson, Sammy; Sister, Ruby; sister in law, Minda; Brothers: Manuel Jr, Isadore, and Doroteo.
The family of Gene wish to extend a sincere thank you to Renee Aragon for always being there for Gene and going above and beyond for him. He cared for and loved Renee dearly. Also thank you to Tony(vecino) for always being there for Gene to lend a helping hand and being a great friend. Gene greatly admired you and always spoke very highly of you.
