Gene Hench

Eugene "Gene" Edward Hench, 64, of Hanover Pa, passed away Monday, September 16 at UPMC Memorial Hospital, York PA, surrounded by his family.
Gene was born March 31st, 1960 in Harrisburg, PA and was the son of Eugene A Hench and Mollie M Hench and the loving spouse of Pamela J. (Finch) Hench with whom he was married for 42 years.
Gene was a veteran of the United States Air Force and continued his career as a Satellite Communications Engineer for Sabre Engineering Corp. Gene was a founding member of Gettysburg Bike Week and life member of Harley Owners Group. Gene loved family gatherings and the highlight of his summers were family York Revolution games. Gene enjoyed traveling around the U.S. and camping in the State Parks of PA. He looked forward to spending the winters in their home in Florida and enjoying the comradery of his many Florida friends. He was a lifelong sportsman and enjoyed hunting with family in PA and Wisconsin. One of the highlights of his life was an elk hunting trip to Colorado.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by three amazing children, Mary J Voss of Hanover, Elizabeth J."Betsy" Hench of York, and Joseph E. Hench and daughter in law Katie Hench of Hanover. A sister, Catherine Morecraft of Bear. DE. Seven very precious grandchildren Caleb, Connor, Madelyn, and Mathew Hench. Mckenna and Eva Voss, and August "Gus" Sisto, as well as several very dear cousins, nieces and nephews and his much-loved pup, "Kenny Sparklepants". Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting contributions be made to the Collin Bateman Memorial Scholarship at 35 N Allwood Drive, Hanover. Collin was a very special young man and friend of our family that tragically died in a motorcycle accident. He was a talented welder and this scholarship is awarded to a student that will go on to technical school.
