Martha C. "Marty" De Rooy

Martha C. De Rooy passed away peacefully at her home in Bethany Village on February 15, 2026.

Martha was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jacob De Rooy, who died in 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Law, who lives in Singapore with her husband, Philip; and their three children, Curtis, Quentin, and Vivian; and by her sister, Carol Parker of New Jersey.

"Marty" grew up in New Jersey and was a long-time resident of Hershey PA before she and Jacob moved to Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg for their retirement years.

Over the course of her life, Marty was a German teacher, a stay-at-home mother, and a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Harrisburg. She took great joy from her hobbies, namely, doll collecting, creative writing, and public speaking through Toastmasters International. She also loved traveling abroad, especially to visit her family in Europe and Asia.

Marty was known for her warm, chatting nature. She remained joyful and positive throughout her life and she will be remembered with much affection.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Bethany Village and John F. Curry, a dear friend, for their kind and generous support to Marty to the very end.
