JoAnn Reiser Spiewak

JoAnn Reiser Spiewak, age 81, of Defiance, OH passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Laurels of Defiance with her family by her side.

JoAnn was born on March 3, 1944 in New Castle, PA to her late parents Quay F. and Nellie Mae (Hammond) Reiser, Sr. JoAnn married Gary Spiewak from Leavenworth, KS and later divorced. JoAnn attended flight school in Minneapolis following graduation from New Castle High School in 1962, later to realize she had motion sickness and went to the Washington DC area to work for the government doing data entry/clerical work. JoAnn updated her computer skills and customer service skills through a local community college taking coursework. She continued to work in offices until she relocated to the Clearwater, FL area in the early 2000's and became a home health aide until her retirement. JoAnn was very fond of the beach life and anything to do with sunshine! She was often found by the pool, shuffleboard decks, ocean, or anywhere that was social. JoAnn loved spending time at her favorite places to eat, travel, and as much time with her grandkids as she could. She was a kindhearted soul who loved to shine by doing for others. JoAnn relocated to Ohio after an injury and spent her final years with her family going to church, out for breakfasts, making smoothies, and going to community events. JoAnn made an impact to many in the community that she became a part of just two short years before. She attended church at the Defiance Church of the Nazarene, Defiance, OH.

She is survived by her children: Jodee Killgallon, Defiance, OH; Sheri Spiewak, Linwood, NJ; Gary (Toni) Spiewak, Jr., Mechanicsburg, PA; sister, Judith Reiser, Houston, TX; grandchildren: Ella Killgallon, Brady Killgallon, Nick (Kayla) Spiewak, Logan Spiewak, Olivia Stone, Garrett Spiewak, and MiKayla Spiewak.

JoAnn is also preceded in death by her brothers, Quay Reiser, Jr. and David Reiser.

Funeral service will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Defiance Church of the Nazarene, Defiance, OH with Rev. Terra Gorrell officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until time of services on Friday at the church.
