Nila L. Christopher

Nila L. Chirstopher, 72, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Nila was born on January 27, 1954, in New Castle, the daughter of Roy and Polly (Marcum) Jarvis. She was a 1972 graduate of New Castle High School. She worked as a cashier at Hills Department Store, RCA, and as a medical transport person for many years. On September 3, 1988 she married Ricky Christopher.

Nila liked to do things to keep her hands busy. She liked to do needlepoint and crochet. She loved to crochet baby blankets for anyone that she knew was going to need one. The thing she loved the most was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nila is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ricky L. Christopher; daughter, Erica (Davin) Connett; sons, Derrick (Allison) Chaney and Chris (Dana) Chaney; eight grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sam Jarvis, Dorene Jarvis, Keith Jarvis, Dotty Jarvis, and Mike Jarvis.

Nila was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Niles and Troy Jarvis; sister, Charlotte Jarvis.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.
