Jack Hollans Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Mar. 13, 2026.
Jack R. Hollans, age 78, of Muncie, passed away on March 11, 2026.

Jack was born on December 9, 1947, in Morehead, Kentucky, to Lena Mae and Boone Hollans, who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Linda (Puckett) Hollans. Jack is also survived by his children: Donna Marlatt (husband Lynn), Jacqueline Jaranowski (husband Brian), and Matt Hollans (wife Jennifer). He was a proud grandfather to Megan Marlatt, Blaine Marlatt, Jake Jaranowski, Jack Mason Jaranowski, Nicholas Jaranowski, and Willow Hollans, and great-grandfather to Waylon Riddle. His grandchildren and great-grandchild brought him much joy.

Jack was a member of the first graduating class of Southside High School in 1965. He was later drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he proudly served his country as a Military Police officer stationed in Thailand and other locations around the world. Jack was a proud veteran, and his family was deeply proud of his service to his country.

Throughout his life, Jack was a hardworking and well-known business owner in the Muncie community. He owned JR's Video and Ro-Jac's Tavern, where he built many friendships and lasting memories.

Jack's passion for the Chicago Bears was unmatched. He loved attending the Chicago Bears home openers with his family whenever possible, and when he couldn't be there in person, you could be sure he was watching the game. Another place close to his heart was Lake Barbee, where he and the love of his life, Linda, enjoyed fishing and spending time together.

Jack supported many charities, especially those dedicated to helping veterans.

In accordance with Jack's wishes, he will be cremated. A private family celebration of life will take place at the lakes where he loved spending time with family.

Jack will be remembered for his love of family, pride in his country, dedication to his work, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
