Willis peacefully crossed the Golden Bridge to heaven on Sunday, August 24th in Akron, OH. He was born on October 29th, 1936 to Leroy and Ella Hench in Akron. He was 88 years old.
After high school, Willis enlisted in the US Army. Following his military service, he became a career semitruck driver. Willis was a devout Christian attending Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church since his childhood where he sang in the choir and served as an elder. He loved his family, riding motorcycles with friends, and assisting neighbors with anything he could do to help them.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jackie, son, Wes, daughter Wendy (Dan) Castilleja and grandchildren Miranda (Sam) King, Melinda, Dallas and Jacob. He is also survived by his younger brother Wilbur (Reatha) Hench. He was preceded in death by his older brother William Hench and more recently his younger sister Ernestine Maschmeier.
Willis will be remembered by everyone for his loving thoughtfulness, support and the willingness to help others - family, friends or strangers.
Family and friends will be received Friday, August 29th from 12:30 to 2pm at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale St. NW, Uniontown, OH 44685. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with Rev. Patricia Moats presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Uniontown.
