Gene Hihar Obituary
Gene retired from the New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board after 30 years of service, and for decades, he was an active member of the Machinist Union Local 305, a testament to his work ethic and loyalty.
He will be reunited in peace with his parents Baltazar and Irma Hihar, his wife Sharon, his brothers Joseph Bongard and James Hihar and his grandson, Bart Rudesill, Jr.
Gene will be remembered by his six children: Melissa H. Rudesill, Kelvin Hihar, Kevin Hihar (Brenda), Catherine H. McClain (Billy), Gene Hihar, Jr. (Jillian) and Marisa Hihar. He also leaves behind a large and loving family of 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by friends and coworkers, and others whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Service celebrating Gene's life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Tharp Funeral Home. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed at www.tharpcares.com.
