Gene Autry Meadows

Gene Autry Meadows, age 84, of Henrico, Virginia, previously of Oakwood, Virginia passed away Tuesday (December 2, 2025) at his home. Born August 11, 1941 in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was a son of the late Albert Lincous and Annie Runyons Meadows. He proudly served in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Lexington as a 3rd class Machinist Mate during the Vietnam War, Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then moved back to Buchanan County to raise his family. He continued his career in coal mining for twenty years and later became a long-haul truck driver until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Barbara Jean Vandyke Crews Meadows and two brothers, Verture Meadows and Edward Arnold Meadows.

Survivors include two children, Thomas Gene Meadows and Charlotte Ann Meadows both of Henrico, Virginia; five siblings, Margaret Hill, Irene Worley, Daisy Street, Jessie Meadows and Paris Meadows and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM Monday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Meadows Cemetery on Baldwin Mountain.

Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Honaker Funeral Home after 6 PM Sunday.
