Gene Edward Perrell, 86, passed away peacefully after declining in health on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in Davidson County.
Born on June 15, 1939, in Davidson County, Gene was the son of the late Rufus Paul Franklin Perrell and Anna Sink Perrell. He was a simple yet steadfast man whose life was marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family.
Gene proudly served at RJ Reynolds Tobacco for over 30 years, demonstrating a strong work ethic that defined much of his life. Alongside his career, he was also a devoted farmer who found joy and purpose in working the land.
Among his greatest blessings were his family and especially his grandchildren, whom he adored deeply. His time spent with them, and with all his loved ones, brought him immense happiness.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Perrell; his brothers, David Perrell, James Perrell, Ward Perrell Sr., Paul Perrell, and Elbert Perrell; and his sister, Charlene Welch.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Reba Mock Perrell; his son, Garth Duane Perrell (Lynda); his daughter, Wendy Perrell Hughes (Greg); his brother, Lance Perrell Sr.; and his sisters, Iva McMahan and Annette Phillips. Gene also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Alanna Perrell, Janna George, Rebecca Fulghum, Joshua Perrell, Caitlyn Smith (Taylor), and Jacob Perrell; and his cherished great-grandchildren: Salem, Wade, Charlotte, and Cohen. He will also be lovingly remembered by his precious fur companion, Percy James Perrell, as well as his sisters-in-law Nancy, Pat, Diane, and Janice.
Gene will be deeply missed by many dear family friends and neighbors, along with his close friends at Woody's Garage, where he found solace and enjoyment in their company.
A memorial service to honor Gene's life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 1 p.m.
Gene's legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
